Kira already owns a prize-winning Pedigree Clun Forest Sheep flock, has achieved top grades in her HNC, is an agricultural lecturer and will shortly move on to a Master’s programme at Aberystwyth University.
Her teachers say she is a pleasure to teach, and her classmates have also benefited from her dedication and passion for her subject. She has been incredibly supportive to them and even assisted many with job applications as her course was coming to an end.
Very aware of the speed of change within the agricultural industry, she chose to study a BTEC in order to further her knowledge and meet the challenges of farming in the 21st century.
Kira says: “A career within agriculture has always been a dream of mine; the BTEC course was a huge stepping-stone for achieving this as at the start of my second year I gained a part-time job as an Agricultural Lecturer. The course modules allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in areas needed for an agricultural career as well as developing my communication skills, organisational skills and the importance of time-management.”
Kira has a clear passion for Agriculture, and this is not only reflected in her studies but also at home by showing her own livestock and achieving 1st prizes. She is now looking forward to employment whilst studying and progressing on to her MSc.
